Charity Plugin Nop Give Change Make Change Released for nopCommerce 2.65!

The plugin is free and will remain so. We will be supporting it through new versions of nopCommerce.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now it is Giving Tuesday.
So we thought to remind all UK retailers and web companies using nopCommerce of the Give Change Make Change charity and that it is integrated with nopCommerce via our free Nop Give Change Make Change plugin.

Please do consider participating in the charity as it does not require anything from the retailers except to make it possible for customers to donate their change to charity, which in fact is what the Nop Give Change Make Change plugin does.

I was trying to see how this plugin worked on your demo store,  but an error occurred when I tried to go to the cart page.

This is what happened:

Added HP IQ506 TouchSmart Desktop PC to cart and tried to view the shopping cart.

The line in bold was in red.  I am not sure if it is a problem with the charity plugin or not, but I thought I had better let you know.

I know I am not in the UK but I thought that the idea behind this was great.  

I had one question though.  Does the extra money go directly to the charity, or does it first go to the retailer's bank account and then do they have to manually give the money to the charity?

Thanks a lot for reporting this! We have fixed the demo web site so you can see the plugin now:

As to how it works. This is basically the process:

1. Customers make a donation in nopCommerce. The plugin just adds a dynamically priced product to their basket.

2. Once the order is confirmed the plugin notices the donation and records it in the nopCommerce database as such. Later it sends it via a web service to the Give Change Make Change system to notify them of the donation.

3. Every retailer has a uniquer number in the Give Change Make Change system so the notification of a donation is recorded for the specific retailer.

That is all. So the donations are recorded on both ends. In your nopCommerce store and in the Give Change Make Change system. You can choose whether you would like Give Change Make Change to bill you automatically for the donations say on a monthly basis or you send them the money yourself based on the records in the nopCommerce store. We have also implemented a reports page for the donations in the nopCommerce administration as well as export to Excel, should you need to send these records to Give Change Make Change.
