Additional Vendor Features

We are looking at two options that we want to look into for additional Vendor Features. The requirements are based on existing systems that exist elsewhere.

The first is based off of an existing extension for Woocommerce. See the following link for details: http://www.woothemes.com/products/product-vendors/. Key Features - commission percentage, PayPal payments, & reporting.

The second is based off of Volusions features for multi-vendor. See the following link for details: http://support.volusion.com/article/vendors. Key features - drop shipping & purchase orders

They both have different features and different purposes. This is why we are wanting a quote to see what it will take to create each one so we can make a decision of which one we would like to pursue. If you have any questions about either solution or general questions, please PM me.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Blake,

I know you're asking for commercial help. But anyway please see the following two work items I've just created - https://nopcommerce.codeplex.com/workitem/12090 and https://nopcommerce.codeplex.com/workitem/12091

By the way, a couple of months ago we completed a similar project (commission per vendor, paypal chained, etc). It covers the first work item. I remember you recently requested a quote here. But unfortunately, due to described reasons we cannot start the project.

Hi Andrei

We are very please to see that these items are being considered, I have looked on codeplex and voted, I also noticed that
https://nopcommerce.codeplex.com/workitem/12090 says Active, does this mean this will shortly be available? as that would be fantastic news for us, as I have just started to revamp our old Vintage 2.60 Multi Vendor version, but I would much prefer to go with a newer version.

Would you please be kind enough to advise if this is the case, and possibly a rough idea of when you would expect to add that to the solution.

Hi Ron,

Yes, it's active and will be implemented sooner or later. But there's still no any estimate on when it'll be done

Hi Guys

Regarding work item #12090

I would much prefer to see PayPal Parallel Payments, I really do not want to get involved in taking money from customers, as you are essentially assuming the role of the seller by using Chained Payments, and the responsibility for the transaction which of course you have no control over, as the customer can come back to you if the Vendor does not fulfill the order or refund the customer.

The most sensible way would be with "Parallel Payments" where the full amount is paid directly to the seller and the transaction responsibility is entirely theirs, and then we could just use a monthly subscription fee for charging our Vendors, also you do not then have to account for all your Vendors sales and charges as that could become an administration headache, when you could just account for your members subscriptions only, let's keep it simple.

That works if you only want to charge a monthly or some kind of recurring fee. What it I want to make a commission off of every sell though?

Hi Blake

I suppose it really depends on the level of responsibility and work load you want to take on, I can only speak on a personal level, and would not like to assume the responsibility of my vendors, if you look at Etsy for example they have over a million customers, and they have to account for all the sales, payment charges, charge backs and the staff needed to control a billion dollars in sales, that is one big administrative headache, at least with a subscription fee, you and your vendors know exactly where they are, you have a million vendors @$5 that's 5million dollars a month ( we should be so lucky ) job done, also you are not dependent on the weather and seasons, because you can charge for the year, but I am sure that both solutions have there own merits.

In the UK, as far as the TAX MAN is concerned if you are taking payments on behalf of your sellers you are totally responsible for that income and you will pay tax on the whole amount, however if you just facilitating and not taking the money you are not responsible for accounting for the sales of your vendor, only on the subscription fee you charge.

Also if you think about it, there is something special about being a member ( a feel good factor ) rather than being an eBay type company where your customers feel like they are being fleeced every time they make a sale, it would be interesting to see what other people think about it.

Ron,
I see your point as well. I can see how both ways would be beneficial depending on how a store owner would like to run their store. I think a good idea might be to see how hard it would be to integrate both options. Then if a store owner would like to use that type of functionality they would be able to choose from a radio button which payment method they would rather use. It would be interesting to hear other people's about it as well.

It would be really great if anyone can detail the workflow it would be really great.

Hi Blake

I think it would be a great idea to have one Adaptive Payments plugin, so you could switch between one or the other, perhaps we could put it out there for someone to do, and split the cost between those that would want it.
