just now it's a little less than accurate - especially if the product has price adjustment options which are required

two examples :

1)
product is a ring with a basic price of £ 500 ( but you can't just buy the ring, you must also choose a jewel )

so, we might have price adjustment options which are required - lets say

10carat diamond +£100
20carat diamond +£200

... on the category page the customer is told that the price is £500 but in reality it is at least £600

2)
product has a basic price of £ 0 but has two required price adjustment attributes
small £ 5
large £ 6

... currently on the category page this product would have a price of £ 0.00 even though that is inaccurate

so, a simple option is, on the category page, display 'price from £ xxx

if there is price altering attributes.

it would be hard to figure out the actual 'from' price if you could not buy the product at the base price

in example 2) the category page will display 'from £0.00'

when in reality the actual 'from' price is £1.00 ( and the real minimum ring price is £600 )

but maybe  the logic of figuring out the actual 'from' price would be too complicated/cumbersome,

we'd have to assess the base price, assess if it was possible to buy at the base price and if not we'd have to figure out what the lowest required price adjustment option (or indeed combination of price adjusting options) was

i actually suggested way back in 2010 that we hide the price and the add to cart button if the basic price was £ 0.00

that issue is closed but I think it's still a good idea.
