Custom Product Detail Template

I need the product detail page to look somewhat like this. Not the entire page, I am using the default template now and like the layout. My products are all setup with variants (think sizes like the product below).

What I want is each variant to show with radio buttons, or boxes like this site below each with its own price (variants are priced) and then one add to cart button.

i have a doubt in product details popup, currently iam showing the selected quantity on each product, when user opens product details popup and enter some quantity and click on AddtoCart or even if he close the popup without adding any quantity, i want it to reflect on parent page. can someone help me how to return value value from product details popup to parent form.
