Hi,
when "Visible individually" check is NOT set, customers don't see products when browsing the catalogue or during Search, and this is fine.
But they see these products in "New products", "Related products", etc. This contrasts with the above.
Is there a possibility to avoid this behaviour (so avoid procts NOT marked as "Visible individually" to be published)?
Thanks

Hi Riccardo,

Thanks.

1. Related products. In this case you should not add such products as related.

2. New products. Absolutely agree. They should not be displayed on "New products" page. But in the upcoming version 3.70 we added "Mark as New" product property. So now a store ownre can manage a list of products on this page

Hi Andrei, thanks for your reply.
I investigated more deeply and figured out the real problem.

In this link you see a GROUPED product.
In this other link you see one associated product of the above.
I don't publish ASSOCIATED products because as you can see there are no info: they are just variants (in the old NopCommerce style paradigm) - this is an exception for you.
As you can see, ASSOCIATED products show on the bottom "Also purchased products", which cosnsist of other ASSOCIATED products (that shouldn't be published as they have the check Visible individually unchecked).

So, here's the point:
1) GROUPED products DON'T show "also purchased", while they should
2) "also purchased" should NOT show associated products but releated GROUPED products or SINGLE products

Are there any settings that I don't know to do this or this behaviour is out of the box?

It sounds like you just need to uncheck the Visible individually checkbox on the edit product page for the associated products.  This is the nop description of it:

"Check it if you want this product to be visible in catalog or search results. You can use this field (just uncheck) to hide associated products from catalog and make them accessible only from a parent "grouped" product details page."

With that checked your second link above would redirect to the parent Grouped product.  It's also used in a bunch of other places to determine what products are displayed like search results.

The above is an example that shows the problem. Sure I have to uncheck it - in fact all other 1600 associated products have the fag unchecked.

The point is that as ALL associated products are not visible, and customers see olly GROUPED (and some single) products, the "also purchased" is never shown (as you can see from the first link).
To see the "also purchased" you need to show ASSOCIATED (and single) products. This because customers buy an associated product, not a grouped one.

The routine extracts only associated products because it reads from orderitems. In this way there's no possibility to show "also purchased" in grouped products.

I give an example:
suppose you sell both Coke  and Sprite in can of 0.33 and bottles of 1 lt.
You show 2 grouped products, and sell both in all formats.
You would expect to show "also purchased" of coke stating Sprite and vice-versa, but you see nothing.
If you show ALSO associated products (Coke 0,33 and Coke 1 lt, etc.), customer opens one associated products and will see for "also purchased" all other associated products.
This behaviour inhibits grouped products as "also purchased" will never ben shown.

Ok I think I understand. Sorry you had me confused because you said you don't publish the products but "Published" is a different checkbox so you do publish them but then set "Visible individually" off.

Yeah I think I see the same behaviour:
1. This is a Grouped product - it has no "Also bought" products (even though its associated Simple products have been bought with other items)
2. This is a Simple product associated with the above Grouped product and "Visible individually" unchecked (so it redirects to the parent Grouped product above as expected).
3. This is another Simple product that has been bought with no. 2 so displays it in the list of "Also bought" products (the green network cable).

You're saying:
1. Should show "Also bought" products that have been bought with its associated Simple products.
2. Works as expected, no problem.
3. Should display the Grouped product (no. 1 above) instead of displaying the green and purple cables that are Simple products associated to the Grouped product?

What I mean is this:
1) when you open grouped product, you don't see any "also purchased". It means that who buys ANY of your patch cord didn't buy anything else? Of course not! So what did they buy?
2) when a customer buys this simple product "also purchased" show a patch cord. So when customer  ought your switch, I see the patch cord. Why when I open the patch cord I don't see the switch?

nop 3.7

andrei, mark as new is great, but how about setting default values filled in for start and end date, say 1 or two weeks, would be even better :)

Was there a solution to this?

I just realized no "also purchased products" show on grouped product detail pages on my site.  I've been using NopCommerce for 4 years and I know there are also purchased products for most of my products but they don't show in detail pages for grouped products.

I saw this comment in the view:
@*we do not display "also purchased" for grouped products

Has anybody worked this out?
