How to configure products and hierarchy for fast search

Hi we sell computer parts. Out products table will only contain parts but not the actual computer models that they attach to. What is the best way to configure nopCommerce to support this sort of arrangement. We have some batteries for instance that go into literally hundreds of models. I dont want the models in the categories hierarchy as there are 100k+ models and nopcommerce blew up when I did this. My category tree needs to be under 10000 entries otherwise the site and the admin module is too slow, have tested this.
So I am thinking categories like this Server->HP Proliant>HP Proliant 360 Series. This gives me 3 levels with about 3000 leaf nodes. So far so good and nopcommerce is performing well so far.
I have downloaded and installed nopAccelerate and it seems top notch. Now what I would like to do is provide a good search mechanism to link parts (nopCommerce products table) with models (some other attribute not coded yet).

Yes the single spare part can go in sometimes thousands of units. e.g. The laptop hinge kit is the same for a lot of HP laptops. People may search for the part number or their laptop model number. In our nopcommerce we will only have this part once.
