How to link Shipping computation methods to Order

Hi All,

Can anyone explain me what is next step after configuring shipping rate computation methods?
Once shipping rate computation methods are configured then end user will select the method or admin needs to link shipping company (FedEx/UPS/USPS)?

Please explain it to me, quick and detailed reply is appreciated.

Shipping rate computation methods serve to show the customer options for shipping.  If using external carriers, like FedEx, UPS, etc., the rates are really just approximate, since you (or store employees) must pack the boxes and use some external way to get actual rates (e.g. UPS online) and ship the packages (i.e. get the carrier to pickup or bring packages to the carrier).

Thanks for update, but if I want to use external shipping like FedEx/UPS then how can I link my order to that external shipping so that products will be shipped by FedEx/UPS?

After an the customer selects the shipping method and confirms order, in Admin you can see the selected method on the Shipping Info tab of the Order.

Hi New York,

Is there any way to send notification to FedEx saying that Order is placed and pick products from "warehouse Address" and ship those to customer's "shipping address"?

Can we send a tracking number to customer within a Order Placed notification, using which customer can track his order?

Could you please explain how exactly actual product shipping works in NopCommerce using FedEx?

You'll need to use another service for that - like ShipWorks  (there's also a plugin for ShipWorks in Extensions)
