I was wondering if there is a way to make a "Hidden" product attribute type that only Admins can see once the order is processed..just curious

Hi,

We have "read-only checkboxes" attribute type. But I presume this is not what you need.

Who will enter "hidden" attribute and when?

I as the Admin of the product would. I want it part of a "condition". If they choose another value then I want my hidden value to change. Here is my example.

I have a t-shirt and I want it in Men's Fit and Ladies Fit. So when they choose "Men's Fit" I was to have a hidden acronym for it "MF" and if they choose ladies fit I want it to be "LF".

I can always display it to them, but I just figured it would be less confusing for them to see both "Men's Fit" and "MF" as 2 options

AM, do you think this is beneficial? I'm probably the only person that ever asked for it LOL

There's no such attribute type (hidden). You'll have to customize the solution to support it.

We have support for conditional product attributes. But contribution attribute appear only if some other attribute value is selected. It's related to the entire attribute/control (e.g. dropdownlist). It's not about values (dynamic change of values based on other attribute value). So it'll also require some customization

Ic. I was think more along the lines of adding "hidden" to the "Control Type" choices. You know how there is "Dropdown list" "Check Box" "Radio button list". Add it there to be "hidden" so the customer cannot see it. But on the back end of the system the admin could.

Also, why can't I add more than 1 of the same attributes anymore? I used to add one like "item" and they could choose "tshirt" "hoodie" etc. then I'd have a condition attribute based off what they chose. The condition attribute I can only have one of the same type.

Do you mean the same product attribute but mapped to a product twice (each mapping will have one value)? Hmm, we haven't tested it. But you can try this workaround

Yeah, check out this Fundraiser shirt I have for sale:

http://ochapparel.com/blwe-graphic-a

They can choose what type of item they want for that particular "graphic" and then the "sizing" would change in the drop down, depending on what they chose. Here is a picture of my backend configuration:

but if I were to hit "Add new record" and choose "Size" it will give me a pop up saying "This attribute is already added to this product"...It never used to do that.

I have another use case for Hidden attributes.

I need to integrate NopCommerce with another system on the level of order items, specific to products. It seems very natural to use the product attributes for this. Only, it should be possible to hide them.

An alternative is of course to create additional tables, to be linked to shopping cart items and order items.
