Upgrade from ancient version

Evening all.

Why I'm here :
Back in 2010/11 I did some work for a small shop and set them up a nop site all has gone well and they have been back in touch asking about mobile compatibility and some other bits... Before I even think about touching the site it needs to be upgraded.

My question:
The current system is on nop 1.90, I dread what the answer might be but - is there an upgrade path?

I know there wont be a straight upgrade from 1.90 to the latest version, but Im hoping that I wont have to grab every release and apply however many upgrades to get to the latest.

Basically what I guess Im asking is whats the quickest way to get v1.90 upgraded to the latest version?

I just have one question :


"Note (upgrading from 1.X to 2.X): If you want to upgrade from a version 1.90 to the latest version, you would need to install 2.00 first (over the existing database), run the 1.90 to 2.00 migration SQL script, and then upgrade to 2.10, 2.20, 2.30, etc"

Thats clear enough, just want to check, do I need to upgrade from 2.0 to 2.10 through every version until I get to 3.90?

We did it in the past, from 1.9 to 3.3 and it is not so complicated as it seems.

You just need to organize all of sql upgrade scripts, run them in the correct sequence and you wont have any problem.

Better if your nop core was not customized.

Run a few upgrade tests, do a detailed checklist and you will be fine.
