Case study title

G7th: orders went up from a trickle per year to many per day within half a year

Statistics #1 Doubled number of dealers selling the capos
Statistics #2 Orders went up from a few per year to many per day
Statistics #3 Overwhelmingly successful community

G7th manufactures probably one of the world's best capos. Their market is both amateur and professional musicians from around the world.
They had a previous website when they approached Wired In Commerce. The site was badly designed both from a creative and a usability perspective. They had tried to build in a community type element into the site, allowing musicians to register and share video clips and images. Unfortunately, this didn’t really work very well, and the eCommerce part of the site was very poor, almost unusable.

Challenge

The project scope for Wired In Commerce was to build a more effective, extensible artist community, to make it easy for musicians to choose and buy capos, to support multi-currency (price per currency) operations and to integrate with Priam, the client’s back office ERP system.

Solution

To deliver the project, Wired In Commerce built two separate plugins. The first was to integrate with Priam so that all new orders are sent to the ERP system. The second was the artist community element. Artists can register on the site, though their details are not live until an admin approves. Once approved, artists can embed YouTube videos, upload images, add social media links, and add a bio. Each artist has their own landing page with a unique URL, and other artists can upvote them.

The creative work for the site is now very contemporary. It is fully responsive and perfectly reflects the G7th brand. The use of high-quality imagery throughout the product selection process allows the product to speak for itself and to demonstrate how desirable the product is. Choosing and buying a capo is now a simple process, but because of the way the site has been built, musicians are given a wealth of information to help their choice.

Result

Since the new site launch, the artist community has been overwhelmingly successful - to the point where G7th have had to close new registrations down as they cannot cope with current demand. Within six months since launch, the number of dealers selling the capos has doubled to over 1000 worldwide. Orders are up from a trickle per year to many per day.
