I have just had a really weird thing happen. In my product detail pages, the images assigned to the product variants have appeared in the main image twice. For example, if I have 20 variants there are now 40+1 images in the main image scrolling off the screen to the right.

The only thing I have done is upload a number of unrelated products (without images) using the Excel import tool.
The images are also showing in the pictures tab in the manage product pages.
I would appreciate any thoughts on what may have happened and how I can remove them quickly. It will take days or even weeks to do manually?
