Currently most of the websites use text CAPTCHA image, in nopCommerce also we have textual version of Captcha image..

NuCaptcha is a first-of-its-kind CAPTCHA technology that uses video to determine if users are human...

The idea is that they’re supposed to be nonstandard enough to be indecipherable by automated spam programs yet simple enough for humans to understand and reproduce.

NuCaptcha’s technology substitutes a brief video display of characters for the usual smash or squiggle of letters. It’s definitely easier on the human eye, and its creators say it’s also much more secure.

Here are the live example/demo of NuCaptcha,,,: Click Here

It is free of cost, available in Programming API's and plugins (compatible with PHP, .NET, Java, etc.): Here

It would be great to have this latest feature (latest technique of using captcha image) in nopCommerce project in upcoming versions...

Text-based Authentication is a thing of the past and still continues to be a problem for most people along with it still allowing for SPAM/BOTS to get through you have to now contend with Phish Attacks. Anyone that has ever used  CAPTCHA and/or RECAPTCHA know that is becomes a complete hassle trying to decipher the random words along with have to start over if you input the incorrect verbiage.

Now imagine if you have bad vision and need to go online for something, it is a complete nightmare and make the online experience not very enjoyable for anyone.

And with NuCaptcha what about bandwidth or having an updated Flash program?

This is the only true way to go....

Confident Technologies has created a unique Image-based Authentication and Verification solutions that can be imbedded within WCM's. As an example their Images-based Captcha solution offers pure ease of use and more security from BOTS and SPAM when websites have web pages where users can comment, register or blog. Because they are inherently easier the end user has a higher quality experience resulting in less abandons and more loyalty. They also offer Image-based password and authentication solutions that are easier and more secure. http://confidenttechnologies.com/products/

The  CAPTCHA products are available for PHP, ASP.NET, Python, Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla; it is FREE and as easy to implement as recaptcha.

All nice and wel about the confident demo but it is not useful for blind people. ReCaptcha does have some options for blind people and if you do not recognize the words you can refresh the part and it shows new words. Beside that its free and got all possible api's for numerous applications and code languages.

The downside is that it is not user friendly at all. Even i have sometimes trouble identifying the scribblings it creates. There are some other methods to protect you forms without letting users type in difficult stuff. Like Honey pots or field name hashing checks for example.

Besides that. Microsoft already has a image recognizing solution made called Asirra (including sample code). You can find it here.
