Because I expect your site to be running nop too, I'm very interested what caused this slow down and maybe how it was solved.
Yesterday, I received an email message about a new message in a topic. I clicked on the email link. I noticed the website reacting but from then on I got an empty page. Other pages didn't 'respond too.
Later on everything was back to normal.
