News Article Pages - Only the first 500 characters of the article show with ... at the end

Is this limit a configurable feature, or is this a limit by the Phoenix theme I installed?

Symptom: Full description only shows first 500.

Steps to reproduce:
- Go to Content management --> News Items
- Create a new article and put a 1000+ characters or more into the full description
- Go to the news article page

Switch to the DefaultClean theme and check again
