Public store demo and admin area demo are two distinct sites. You can login at the admin demo site using [email protected] (more info here). But if you want to login at the public store demo, then you have to register first.

I think there is a problem if you log in to the admin area demo and then you try to impersonate a customer. You get logged out of the admin area and you can login again. Can you please verify this?
