sounds important but I can't see where to do this (1.7).
There isn't an "enable" box on the individual Category or Product pages.
In global Settings there is "Enable store name prefix" but I don't think it's that.
Can you direct me? Many thanks.

on the last page, you will see

Sitemap.IncludeCategories

Sitemap.IncludeProducts
Sitemap.OtherPages

which you can set to true or false

I know this link is old, however, if you have or use the blog on your website, the XML sitemap doesn't pick this up. You can visit http://www.verifythisaddress.com/sitemap-blog-extension to get a free plugin that allows your blog to be included in your SEO Sitemap automatically. Enjoy

BUMP!

Just thought I would bump this topic.

I am trying to submit a sitemap to google in webmaster tools however google no longer accepts html based sitemaps as suggested by a few in this topic.

Is there a way to convert sitemap.aspx to a useable format such as xml?

I'm using v3.4.  Simply navigate to yourdomain/sitemap.xml.  Easy Peasy.

Hello:

I tried to add 'yoursite.com/sitemapSEO.aspx' to the webmaster Tools and verify and am getting the following error,"Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead."

I am trying to place 'sitemap.xml ' file in the 'root folder' instead.

Where would I place this, and/or, can you provide additional guidance for this sitemap issue for google?

Thanks

You don't need to place an XML file in the root.  Instead of using 'yoursite.com/sitemapSEO.aspx' for Google, use 'yoursite.com/sitemap.xml'.  The XML is generated dynamically.

Thanks , but that is not working for me.

perhaps I have some thing missing someplace, but it all seems straightforward.
