I don't know what it would require but it would be useful if we had a profile attribute where we could indicate what version of NopCommerce that we are running. It would display on the left side of all of our posts by the post count, karma, etc.
It would skip the question of "what version are you running?" and also would give context to posts that talk about something that was fixed in recent versions.
BTW, several users can use several versions (web agencies). Or some users won't find a place where they should specify the version. I think it's better to add a dropdownlist with version list on "create topic" page (a user can also leave it empty)
