I think it has something to do with .net framework 4.5, I dont know, Im going to try to downgrade version 2.70 to .net framework 4.0 and see what happens
This is the response I got from support from my hosting company
Hello,
I have tested your mail account and im able to send / receive mails without any issues. Currently we dont have any problems with our mail service. This error message "Authentication is required for relay' means that your application is not using SMTP authentication:
Please check your application configuration once again - login as admin , go to Misc -> Message Templates
You can also check nopCommerce FAQ section for more information how to configure your application properly. Sincerely, Eugene S. Technical Support Team
SMTP Authentication is hard coded in the source code using the NetworkCredential class. Your issue is something else.
I would need a little more information about your email account settings.
However, I strongly recommend using a transactional email service like Mandrill.com. You get 12k emails per month free and the setup is drop dead simple. In addition to this you can configure DKIM & SPF keys which keep your sending server from being potentially blackballed or your messages marked as spam.
Hi Getting the same problem Version 3.10 Site hosted on winhost.com Email hosted elsewhere
I have successfully sent test emails to "myself" ie the email user that is set up on the site, but as soon as i send to any other domain i get "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: Authentication is required for relay"
I have set the site to run in full trust (as suggested in another post)
Any ideas ?
Thanks
UPDATE - all sorted It was simply the password was wrong - had assumed that because it sent an email to an email addresses on the domain it was working - wrong! Put in the right password - problem solved.
