Mr. Pavlos Tsulfaidis, the CEO of Smartstore rejected to meet nopCommerce license terms.

Hi Andrei,

Thanks for sharing with the community.  I definitely agree with you and I am sure all of us are willing to help you out if we can.  It is sad that it came to this...I thought for sure that they would add the powered by nopcommerce when notified.

This would be an international case since you are in Russia and they are in Germany, right?  Could it be challenging to go after them because of this?  Could you file a claim in Russia or would you have to do it in Germany or in some international court?

can anyone recommend a good lawyer who has some experience with such cases (software license violation, similar)?

I found a Lawyer in California, Gary Fergus, that is a Intellectual Property and copyright Attorney.  It says on his website that he has experience helping software developers and programmers protect their original source code from copyright infringement...  Just found him on the web, but it might be worth looking into.

Also, Lawyers.com might be a good place to search.  They have a list of Intellectual Property law firms here.

My guess is that any law firm you go with is going to be terribly expensive.  Maybe you should set up a fundraising page so the whole nopcommerce community can help out.

Please keep us all updated.

Regards,

Tim

Right

I hope a lawyer will help me to answer these questions. But I absolutely don't mind going to Germany if required (just will combine it with my vacation) =))

Thanks. I think it won't be required. I don't know how it's usually done in International cases but in Russia if you win a litigation case, then the person on the other side of your case should pay all expenses to your layer, etc.

Agree. It should be a separate topic. Please post all further questions/suggestions there

Hi Andrei,

for me as a future user of SmartStore.net: Would it be okay for you if I add manually a "powered by nopCommerce" to the footer of a smartstore based web site to fullfill your license needs?

The (nopCommerce based) Smartstore would fit best to our requirements. But of course I don't want to to infringe any licenses. Are there any other things beside the footer info that have to be adjustet to fullfill your licenses?

Kind Regards,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks a lot for meeting our license terms. Adding "powered by nopCommerce" is enough

Hi Andrei

Very sad this is all going on for you guys, its such a shame you cant work together with the SmartStore developers. I have to say though their UI really is v nice and I think for some of my clients (who want a low costs solution) its going to be appealing.

Will purchasing the license removal for NopCommerce also count as a valid license for SmartStore?

Thanks

Hi John,

Thanks. But it's not about Germans or any other nationality. It's about meeting about license terms

Of course, please dont think I meant it like that, it was just a way of referring to the other devs.
