Category, Manufacturer, Brand

Hello. I am new to nopCommerce. I want to have categories, manufacturers and brand, which can be different.
For example, Category of "Food", Manufacturer of "Mondelēz" and brand of "Oreo". Or more to what I will be doing, I sell pet toys, so Category "Cat Toys / Poles", Manufacturer of "Go Cat Feather Toys" and Brand of "Da Bird" and under that are 2 products (36" Single Pole and Pull Apart Pole).

So how can I add Brand to NopCommerce and have it as a dropdown on the top nav?

Hi David,

Unfortunately there is no brand entity in nopCommerce. However you can use some workaround:

1. Use vendors as brands. When you enable and add vendors (you can rename the locale resources to brands) they will be shown in the top menu and thus having the brand functionality. On the product page, you will have the Brand: Oreo for example shown and what is more you will have a vendor(brand) page with all products for this vendor (brand). I think it is worth trying.

2. The other approach is to create top category Brand and subcategories for each brand like Oreo. And you can map your products to both categories - for example to the category Oreo and to the real category. Thus the top category of Brands with all its subcategories will appear on the top menu.
