Please dump Arvixe as one of your recommended hosts

I am severely disappointed in Arvixe, and even more disappointed that despite many complaints about the company, nopCommerce still shows them as a "recommended" host.

They did a fairly decent job of hosting up until roughly mid-September when everything went to hell. Frequent unexplained outages that would last over an hour, resulting in the inability of anyone to get into my website, and even the e-mail servers were off-line.

Things really went south last month when they decided to move IP addresses around on their servers. My website was down for four days until the IP addresses managed to propogate through the system, no access to e-mail either.

And on-and-off since then, my website has been inaccessible for hours at a time, sometimes with a 404 error, sometimes with a "connection refused" error.

It is incomprehensible to me how a company that's business model revolves around hosting websites cannot do their job responsibly. Their support sucks, when I reported the outage last month, it actually took them over three weeks before they responded with a work ticket number and wanting to know if I was still having problems.

Fortunately, my annual contract with them expires next month, and you can be certain that it will not be renewed.

I **STRONGLY** recommend that nopCommerce stop giving this company free advertising as a "Recommended Hosting Company for nopCommerce".

Hello Mike,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your website on Arvixe server.

I have notified Arvixe tech support for you and they will contact you soon.

In the mean while, please post your ticket # here so that they can look into the issue.

Hi @mikeaurelius,

I read your response on the thread: https://www.nopcommerce.com/boards/t/38232/please-dump-arvixe-as-one-of-your-recommended-hosts.aspx

I see you are having issues with your website and I completely understand your frustration.

I am "NOT" a Arvixe customer support person.  I am a member of nopCommerce MVP team (if my profile badge wasn't clear) and I am just trying to help you like I would help any other nopCommerce user. Voting down my post or taking out your frustration on me on the thread is not going to help anyone.

If you have already decided to change your hosting company, that is your personal decision. All I am trying to do is help you in communicating with Arvixe (if you're interested) - That's all. I do have the resources to escalate anyone's issue or open tickets so that nopCommerce users can get the help sooner and faster.

I wish you luck with your website and if you have any other question, please feel free to post it on the forums and we will answer it :)
*************

The problem I have with this is that you are acting as a middle-man to Arvixe, and expediting only those folks who take the time to complain about their reliability problems with Arvixe. Thus the squeaky wheel comment.

Your comment was singularly unhelpful -- offering to "escalate" a work ticket doesn't solve the overall problem, it just boots someone else further down the queue. If you can't see that, then perhaps you shouldn't be acting as "Community Liaison" for them, in fact if it was me in your place, I'd have told them in no uncertain terms they need to get their poo squared away or they can kiss their sponsorship goodbye.

Right now, my sub-domain is inaccessible, and has been for 48 hours. This is costing me approximately $1200 per day in sales. My main domain, with it being up and down 3-4 times per day has cost me about $6000 in sales since this Arvixe-inflicted problem began in September.

3 week turnaround time on a website outage is totally unacceptable. Frustration??? Try outright ANGER.

nopCommerce needs to drop Arvixe as a recommended host before anyone else gets financially hurt.

You want a ticket number? Here is is: [#UJC-854-43008]

The main domain is auralens.net. In the last 48 hours, the log shows 12 "Application Started" notifications. It has been up and down for as long as 1 hour, including having e-mail inaccessible.

The subdomain is lab.auralens.net. It is bringing up a Name Resolution Error. It was working just fine 3 days ago. Someone screwed with the name resolution file AGAIN, and this is unacceptable.

Please do not drag nopCommerce into the quagmire of failure that Arvixe has become.

Ahh hah!  I see you going for that referral credit.

I third SmarterASP - I have a premium shared and a semi dedicated account.  Great company.

We're working on putting together a class action suit.  We will forward the link for others to join when the paper work is complete.  Do not expect a settlement to come but at least Arvixe will have to spend an ample amount of money replying in court and refunding money for the past month of failure.
