The PayPal Credit Widget was developed by Withrow's Place to provide their customers with additional purchasing power using PayPal Credit (formerly Bill Me Later). Unfortunately PayPal limits this program to US customers but other merchants may be able to use the system to extend their foreign trade.

The PayPal Credit Widget plugin is fully configurable, fully localized to easily translate to other languages, and open source for a small fee. The plugin costs under $35 for the binary version and the source code is available on the author's website for an additional charge.

PayPal Credit Widget enables merchants to participate in the PayPal Credit (formerly Bill Me Later) program by displaying a banner of your choosing from their list in up to four places on your website. The program is only available for your customers residing in the United States. The plugin is completely localizable to any language (including the help page).

You may choose to display banners on each product detail page, your site header, your site footer, and in a side column. Each location is fully configurable and may be enabled/disabled. The exact location is controlled by selecting a widget zone. You can only use the PayPal banners provided as using your own logo will not work (part of the authentication process like when your bank displays a logo on your login page).

PayPal Banners are backed by a completely secure code, that makes sure they meet all federal credit regulations and are updated with the latest offers from PayPal Credit. If you have questions or would like more information, please visit the PalPal Credit Help Center.

PayPal Credit works with PayPal Standard, PayPal Express, and PayPal Direct within nopCommerce. One of these plugins should be active on your site. PayPal Credit is not available for products that include subscriptions, donations, or merchant provided installment plans.

During checkout through PayPal, your customer is offered the option of participating in the program or continuing with their usual PayPal payment method. The banner script sends PayPal your Merchant ID (Payer ID) authorizing your store to participate in the program. The customer gets credit and you get paid. The customer can always click on the bannner to review program options in a new window before opting into the program.

PayPal claims customers make larger and more frequent purchases, virtually no chargebacks occur because the program is opt-in, and settlement is the same as other methods.

PayPal Merchant ID

To get your Merchant ID number, you must first have a PayPal account (Banners will not display without a valid Merchant ID). PayPal Credit works with PayPal Standard, PayPal Express, and PayPal Direct within nopCommerce. One of these plugins should be active on your site. PayPal Credit is not available for products that include subscriptions, donations, or merchant provided installment plans.

If you do not have a 'Merchant account ID', then you need to upgrade your PayPal account.

Configuration Tips

You can find widget zones by looking in the views folder of your website and searching the cshtml files for entries like'
@Html.Widget("footer")
'. The portion in quotes is a widget zone. Your selected banner will be appended to the bottom of any zone chosen on the configuration page.

If a banner does not fit in your layout, you can always go back and pick a different one.

Clear your browser cache if you have trouble seeing changes you make with banners. Some browsers store images for faster loading on return visits.

Banner Locations

There are 20 banner sizes to choose from. Those displayed in the widget are shown actual size to help you choose and are for reference only. If a banner does not fit in your layout, you can always go back and pick a different one. Periodically, the actual banners displayed on your website will change in content (under PayPal control), but the size will remain what you choose.

In the Header: Place banner ads towards the top of your homepage, above the fold.

In the Body: On your product pages, try to place it near your "Add to cart" button.

In the Sidebar: Placing your banners in the sidebar allows them to stay visible throughout the shopping process, letting the message resonate with your customers.

On the product page: You can choose any location on the product page to place the banner. The default is after the social buttons.

Thanks for trying out this plugin!
