Yes, it is frustrating especially when they give the impression that it is URGENT...and say PLEASE HELP ME...
I have recently dropped an important project for a person who private messaged me on the forum saying he had an urgent problem needing solved. I worked all weekend to solve his problem, and on Monday he decided not to use it.

BUT...I demanded a deposit for half of my estimate before I started, so at least I got something...
I recommend always getting a deposit before beginning the work.
