Hi Rich

There is no limitation on bandwidth/traffic it is unlimited, these servers are limited by the amount of users
we have because each user has he/hers own Application Pool, so instead of doing what most companies do
by putting everyone in the same pool (Shared Hosting) we limit the amount of customers per server.

Which is why we have gone down the Product count route, so the server runs at it's optimum pace and if someones site does goes down it does not cause any issues with anyone else.

This is a managed hosting solution, we help to look after your site and because it is isolated already we can go straight in and help fix it without having to first find where the issue is coming from.

I really appriciate your kind feedback I'll be sure to add that information to the page for you, plus the server information.

Hi Thenrich

Sorry I failed to answer the following questions :

How are you limiting the number of products per plan?

We are not limiting the amount of products you sell, the prices reflect's the size of your business, if a customer only has a few products there needs are going to be far less, but they can upgrade hopefully as their site gets bigger, it would be unfair of us to charge the same as someone else who had 1000's of products and taking up more resources, we are therefore making our service more accessible to all sizes of businesses.

Isn't the customer in charge of their whole store?

Absolutely you have full control of your site, through the Plesk Dashboard and FTP, this service is about looking after the hosting side for the client, but we do also offer Development Work should the client need help.

I do hope this is of help to you.

Specifying the number of products in the plans suggests these are hard limits. That's what I will understand as a visitor to your site. Some ecommerce hosting sites do have these limits and that's what peope are going to understand.

If a 100 product store owner and a 1000 product owner both can fit their products in the alotted disk space and alloted database size, should the hosting company care about how many products the store has in their store? Also note that a popular 100 product store might generate a lot more traffic than a quiet 1000 product store.

Yes the number of products are absolutely hard limits, otherwise there is no point in stating it, having said that it doesn't mean if they have 102 we are going to jump on them, the problem all hosting companies face is that there is no real "one size fits all" and we have looked at this in a way that would be fair to all clients and not just a chosen few, many of the Shared Hosting companies give so little space that the site cannot even load properly, our idea is to give nopCommerce site owners, enough space to run there sites without all the restrictions they would normally face with shared hosting.

Answer

Yes because the more pages you generate the more resources it takes up, think for a moment about "Search Bots" if you had say fifty products how long do you think they would take to crawl, if you had 2500 products would it be the same time and resources?.

The other point i should make is that we also restrict the amount of sites we have on a server, we have just doubled our capacity for sites from 25 to 50 websites by using better servers, instead of having 100's of sites on the same server as a Shared Hosting company would do.

But I would really be happy to hear your formula for creating Hosting Plans and would be also happy to change my mind if the figures stacked up, after all this is an exercise in providing nopCommerce site owners with a service they can rely on without having to worry if there site is going perform?.
