Does any body know of a workaround to negate the addition charges on a product when Local Pickup is selected?
I am currently using Shipping Director for other customized ship related functions, but it appears it can't access the local pickup functionality to remove additional charges from the cart if local pickup is selected.
I am not sure if this a bug or upgrade issue so not reporting as such. Aware that some may want to have the additional charge even if the product is a local pickup, but what if you do not.
I do see the bug reported in 3.5 “We should not apply additional shipping charge for in-store pickup”
But I do not see where it is addressed in the improvements, the only thing I see is “Allow a store owner to specify "pick up in store" fee” unless I am missing it. But I was informed it was working properly in 3.70 so it must have been addressed but not listed in the improvements.
I have tested this with Nop fixed rate shipping plugin and the additional charges are still calculated in the cart for the local pickup.
I know the short answer to a fix is not apply additional charges but that should not be a solution.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I discussed this with glhays, and it appears to be a bug.

I tested 3.70 and it works fine, but tested 3.80, and 3.90 and they both add the charge! I'm not aware of any setting that would allow adding the charge optionally. So, I think it's a bug that must have 'broken' the change that was made in 3.50.
(P.S. If it is a bug, then the workaround would be to disable the pickup-in-store, and instead make "pickup" an Option in SD and negate the additional charges; there's an old noptools blog about it. The downside to this is that the customer has to enter a shipping address before they get to the shipping method selection page. Preventing that was the point of the change made in 3.50 ;)
