Nop 4.00: Why do existing customers need to create a new account?

Because I'm not quite up to speed yet on.CORE, I'd been postponing upgrading my clients to NopCommerce 4.00.

However, we have a client on 3.9 who's being impacted by the UPS negotiated rates problem, so we need to upgrade them to 4.0. I did a test upgrade yesterday and was surprised afterward to see the following message displayed on the home page:

Please note: To customers who had an account on the old website, you will need to create a new account on the new website.

That may be a pretty serious issue for us, as I would imagine it is for others. I've searched through the forum though and haven't been able to find any discussion about it.

Can somebody explain why this is? I'm hoping that after I know the reason, perhaps I can find a work around.

I am not aware of this limitation. Where did you see this? (screenshot of possible)

Where did you get the new version from?
I cant find that message in the standard v4 source code

My bad! I just discovered that my designer had manually added that note to the 3.9 version of the site (because we had converted the client's previous website from a competing eCommerce system).

Whew, that makes much more sense (I couldn't believe nopCommerce folks would've done that!)

So, to recap, this is NOT A PROBLEM WITH NOPCOMMERCE! This just was something my designer did with the previous site.
