Hello, so we are planning on upgrading our version of nopCommerce later this year and we would like to know if anyone has encountered any problems during or after the upgrade and if it's safe to go from 3.9 straight to 4.1 or if we should go from 3.9 to 4.0 first?? Thank you in advance.

As long as database is concerned, you'll have to run upgrade scripts for 4.0 then 4.1.
If you are using the standard nopCommerce theme and default plugins, then each will need individual upgrades. For plugins that are part of standard installation (and those developed by nop team), you'll get all the plugins for latest versions.
For third party plugins however, you'll need to check respective plugin vendors for latest versions of the plugin.
After the upgrade, everything except the file structure will need to be worked upon.
For nopCommerce 3.9 the images are uploaded to /Content/Images directory. Since 4.0, nopCommerce uses .NET Core and therefore the revised structure stores images at /wwwroot/images/uploaded.
Some standard steps are always good for the upgrades.
