I have NOP4.0 (Upgraded from 3.8/9) running in Azure on production load WebApp plan and SQL Azure S3.  Performance is OK, I have a large number of products and attributes mapped to them.

I have read a couple of conflicting recommendations and would like some help please.

Is GZIP compression enabled on Azure by default?  Online Scans suggest I am not using it, but some articles state its on by default in Azure Webapps now.  I can see I can enable in Nopcommerce, but of course don't want to break anything.

Also, on the database connection, I have seen people use Multiple Active Recordsets (MARS).  As Nopcommerce is a very database chatty app, would this help or hinder performance?  Anyone using it?

Hi stevenewton99,

How is it going?

Looks like you have to enable gzip compression by yourself. Please follow these steps to check your current status. And, please do not worry you will not break anything with this.

Multiple Active Recordsets (MARS) setting is extremely low impact item. There is a lot to scratch on the surface to gain performance before we start looking under the rug.

We are happy to provide you a free analysis report of your site once we look at it. Please do not feel obligated as this is all non-binding.

Happy to help further.

Thanks,
Mandeep
