Add Specification Attribute as Date

I would like to add product (food) which has expire date. I look specification attribute feature but I think it does not meet this requirement. How can I do this?

Will the expire date be used to do anything - or is it just to dsiplay for the customer info

There is the pre-order date field in the product - its use could be reassigned



Regards the filter - a new type could be added to the product list search
