Oh and as an FYI, to get Google to read my subdomain site map I had to edit the webconfig as follows:

Yes- When you are using a 3rd party theme, it is always a good practice to see if issues are coming from the theme customization or default solution. I would recommend testing your site with default theme and see if you get the same issue.
