SEO content question

I'm a bit confused as to what I should enter as content for SEO information. The documentation says stuff like

Enter the required Meta keywords, which are a brief and concise list of keyword and phrases for the page. The meta keywords tag takes the following format:
<meta name="keywords" content="keywords, keyword, keyword phrase, etc." >

Do I enter the HTML markup or just keywords?

You just have to enter the keywords. The mention of the format is for reference.

Don't worry about meta keywords in this days... Google has said that it has no effect on SEO anymore and is obsolete. By the way, it is the easiest way to your competitors find all your keywords you are optimizing your store.

You can leave it blank and nop staff should remove this meta tag from future versions.
