setting up multi store

I'm trying to setup  a multi store platform
and am stuck on the following
any advice on how to do this would be great

"From the control panel of www.store2.com ( Your hosting control panel, not nopCommerce Administration area) ensure that all requests to www.store2.com are forwarded (not redirected) to www.store1.com. Perform this using CNAME records. This step is crucial."

I just use A records which works
I dont know if I should have used CNAME or what differnce that might make ?

I have 3 stores

1. http://demo.selectsystems.com.au
2. http://store.selectsystems.com.au

Go to the same website and seperate stores

3. http://www.selectsystems.com.au

Goes to a different website

you have your stores in sub domains
is that required for multi stores? I know that is how opencart works
Are you using the same database for all three?
