Hello All,

We are evaluating NopCommerce for using it as our online store (ecommerce site)...we have a bit specific requirement in which we need multiple prices and multiple currencies support for every product depending on the visitor's location.

say if someone is purchasing a product from USA then the currency will automatically be USD ...

meaning we need to map country and respective currency and if there is a visitor who comes from some country which is not mapped then the default currency will come in to the picture and respectively we need prices to be mapped with currency so that depending on the country currency and its respective prices will be shown on the store..

I was looking for such an extension if available on NopCommerce ..but unfortunately there were no such extensions available...

can some one throw some light on this ..how can we achieve it ?...and is it easy to achieve without disturbing NopCommerce's core architecture?..as we should be easily able to migrate to next version they come up with ...

Waiting for reply...

Regards,
Jinesh

I also have this exact requirement.  Can anyone say whether this is possible or not?

What you want is not available out of the box.
You can define all the currencies that in wich your prices and calculations will be shown (based in a primary currency which is converted to the others by means of conversion rates defined by the store owner or obtained online by the store system) and the customer has to select the prefered
In Nop you set the primary currency and this currency will be used for procesing all payments. The payment processor makes currency conversion. Example: if the primary currency is dUS dollar, Paypal the processor and the customer card euros, then the charge will be sent to Paypal in dollars and Paypal will debit the account in dollars and the customers bank will make the conversion to euros.

My PayPal Account can hold balances in multiple currencies.  I prefer this as it means the customer pays in local currency and builds trust.

I also need to set different prices for different regions.

Is it possible to create a NOPCommerce extension to do this or would it involve a major re-write?

Multi region would also be very suitable for us as well, with the option to enabled products by region.

Anyone know of an addon please?

Thanks

Hi there,

What is desperately needed for nopCommerce - in order to make this a complete and FULLY customizable eCommerce solution - is the equivalent to this package which is offered to osCommerce users. View the page below - it explains exactly the functionality that we are all asking for!

It would be really great to have this functionality in nopcommerce. This gets my vote as I desperately would like to have this on my store.

although this features offers a great flexibility in pricing your products , it is AGAINST ALL E-COMMERCE LAWS which clearly state that prices should not be set by visitor region .... a price must be the same in all currencies and for everybody , of course with exchange calculation .

ie: you cant set a price un USD 10 and in euro 15 just because you want Europeans to pay 15 instead of 10 USD.

look at the International chamber of commerce laws , you'll find it very usefull.

@sch09:
It would appear that you are not fully grasping the concept of what we are trying to accomplish here.

The essence of this feature is naturally not to scam certain nationalities by charging them outrageous prices. What we are requesting here is the option to set individual product prices per currency, thus enabling psychological pricing - exactly as it is being done IRL at international stores.

Here is an example of the model we would prefer - e.g. pricing of 'Product A':

DKK:   399,-
SEK:    379,-
NOK:    369,-

...in comparison to this (pricing according to a fixed rate) which is certainly not a desirable option from a retailers point of view.

DKK: 399,00
SEK:  377,47
NOK:  370,16

I hope that you are now able to better grasp 'the finer points' of what we are requesting here.

sch09: Your ICC is just some silly organisation you can sign up to from what I've just googled, they themselves say "ICC, as the foremost business rule-maker for international trade, sets voluntary rules that companies from all parts of the world apply to millions of transactions every year"

VOLUNTARY <- that's not law.

Now I'll charge whatever I like in whatever country I feel like. We pay over the odds for most things in the UK because other countries know they can charge it.

We're starting up in other countries, and so to get uptake we're charging basically cost for our products abroad, and more here in our established market. That's not breaking any imaginery law you think exists. Regional pricing is common the world over.
