(Keep in mind our website will only receive 500 unique visitors a day who maybe browse 10-20 images maximum).

Let's say we're up to 224,334 images in the thumbs folder.  That's a lot of files for a single folder. This will cause problems with FTP software and any type of directory browsing.  This is not that big of a deal actually since the image files will be added & deleted via nopcommerce.

We'll also be using MaxCDN and they've confirmed that all those images in a single folder is no problem.  Arvixe hosting should be fine with this since the images will be served from a CDN.

Does this all sound like a good strategy?

That's not a problem at all. We have a site which has 10 times images of yours. And there we're also using MaxCDN as a CDN provider. We used this plugin for integrating cdn. And  this other plugin too which helped us scale our site very well without changing a single line of code. Now its working very cool.

Hello,

Let us know if you have any issues, or need anything on our end.
You can email me at adam [at] arvixe [dot] come if you have any issues.

Perhaps to make it easier, we can transfer the images from the server directly.
Not sure if that's what your looking to do, but it's just a suggestion.

Thank you!

Probably using MaxCDN in Pull mode.   Thumbs will still get generated on Arvixe server on demand.
200K + ??  Time will tell :)

(note that each product can generate several thumbs of different sizes, so if you have 200K products, you could get 4-5 times as many thumbs - assuming anyone actually brings up pages with those images.)
