Multi-Site understanding with one SSL Certificate

I just downloaded nopCommerce and want to fully understand Muli-Site before I implement the first store.

Questions:

1. Can I install the store in a sub folder on the main site for example on site www.main.com can I place the entire store in a sub folder www.main.com/store?  So the existing website still works but a store link will go to the default page under www.main.com/store?

2. I have other websites under the main site with unique URLs for example www.main.com and www.website1.com and www.website2.com but my hosting company can only implement the SSL on the main site can each domain have their own store that redirects from a link on their website? For example www.website1.com/store will be directed from a link on www.website1.com labled "Store" to www.main.com and use the SSL but have a unique theme for each domain? What I want is the existing website on www.website1.com to continue to operate and when I add a link named "Store" it redirects to the Mulit-site store on www.main.com using its SSL, is this how it works?

Note my main website has a default SSL from the hosting company that I would replace with a purchased SSL with the proper URL for example https://www.main.com instead of the cryptic version from the hosting company.  I would assume that when redirecting from www.website1.com to the store the URL in the browser will display https://www.main.com/Store but the theme would be the www.website1.com, does this sound correct?

1) No, each store should have its own domain or subdomain (www.store.main.com)

I don't have my mind wrapped around nopCommerce implemented on one website and using Multi-Site for other domains to use the same nopCommerce.  Let me break up my question.

My parent website say is www.parent.com, it is the only one that I can have a SSL certificate for which currently has a shared SSL I could use but I intend to get a dedicated SSL.  I have up to 10 Child website with their own domains so www.childsite1.com, www.childsite2.com and so on.

I would like to place the nopCommerce site on a sub folder on www.parent.com/store and when directed to there would use the SSL https://www.parent.com/store.  This would be ok for selling from the parent site.  Now I would like from a link on a Child site be directed to https://www.parent.com/store but the URL in the browser show https://www.Childsite1.com/store is this possible?

I want my existing website on www.parent.com to stay the same but have the store on a sub folder will this work?

I just checked with our developers and it is not possible even if you have a single store to have the store as a sub-folder.
Check this too: https://www.nopcommerce.com/boards/t/27057/31-multi-stores-setup.aspx

Maybe these links might lead you to what you want

I have a similar question

If main parent site (mainsite.com) has SSL

and our sub multistores (childstore1.com, childstore2.com etc) which are all directing to mainstore anyway - can all the orders be processed from child stores using the main parent site (mainsite.com) SSL?

How do we set that up?

Plan B

Can we put a SSL on a generic domain eg (secure.com) on the same server where NopCommerce is hosted

Can we then put https://secure.com as the SSL in store settings all for all the Nopcommerce multistores that are hosted on same server. All checkouts would then go to that generic SSL

Would this work technically?

Appreciate feedback please!!

Hi Eduardo

Thanks for the reply

I already had been to all the pages on the first pages of that google result but unfortunately it doesnt answer my query. A multi domain SSL is really expensive (since we are going to have in excess of 100 multistores) so that is why I thought the generic named domain with single SSL might be the answer. I just wanted to know if it was possible and how the shopping cart would hand over to the SSL and if there would be insecure SSL error messages on the way across

Sorry to seem like a pain but I had already tried to research this myself prior to posting

No problem. Good luck to find a good solution!

Hi,

I think best is to use a 30 days trial on a vps and set it up. Single comodo ssl is About 12 USD. Set it up under a windows 2012 server so that you can have multiple ssl under one ip. Only modern browsers support this, windows xp for instance not. This is called SAN.

Create two stores and install one ssl for third domain. Set ssl for both stores to this single ssl..and allow .

Check SAN on this post http://forums.iis.net/t/1189788.aspx?Individual+SSL+certificates+on+multiple+host+headers+on+different+IIS+sites+hosted+on+same+IP+

I suspect it is possible..but dependant on hosting party...
