Bots are great if used correctly like Google did to scrape information on your company, BUT some unethical
get rich quick people use bots to promote their illicit activities. I don't need Viagra for erectile dysfunction...yet.

Google has protection from this making Bot scraping and Posting almost obsolete. You should turn up the protection all the way in Google. It's Not in Nopcommerce.

When you go to the above link make sure you go to advanced settings>security preference> MOST SECURE.  That will end phony accounts since Google has got you covered. I used medium settings because I block Traffic from outside my Money area. No need to sell to Niagara or other countries. So, if you can't block them at the firewall level you can at least stop them from postings using bots.

/Admin/Setting/Generalsettings (turn on advanced)

In your store you should definitely turn on recapture at every chance you get.

A CAPTCHA is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer. You've probably seen them — colorful images with distorted text at the bottom ofWeb registration forms. CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from"bots," or automated programs usually written to generate spam. No computer programcan read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protectedby CAPTCHAs. nopCommerce uses reCAPTCHA.

Hope this helps ends phony accounts and sleeper accounts from posting about erectile dysfunction or any other nonsense. Hackers use VPNs and proxy IPs so don't bother blocking each Ip. Just do this and you stop them dead in their tracks.

Good point about increasing the security level in the Advanced settings at Google ReCaptcha to "Most secure."

It causes an extra hurdle for customers in that they have to "select each image containing a street sign" or whatever, but it really does eliminate the bots.
