Hi Andrei,

Thank you for the quick reply and for the explanation!

If we ignore the colors, which as you said will be corrected soon, I don't like the new panels approach because when you open a panel that takes a lot of space then you don't really see the other panels.
This makes the navigation in the page quite hard.
With the use of the Tabs we always have them visible at the top and you can easily navigate to the other "panels" and also you see them all the time.
Now with the new interface it takes a lot of scrolling up and down just to see what the other panels are especially if they are not collapsed. So not only it is hard to find where the other panels are but you will need to scroll down/up all the time and most of the time in the wrong direction as you don't know if the panel you are looking for is up or down. Also if all panels are not collapsed it will take us a lot of time just to go to the last panel at the bottom of the page.
This in my opinion will ultimately make the management in the administration harder and more time consuming.
But you will need to play a little bit with the administration to see what I really mean.

I hope this makes sense!

I would like to hear what the other members of the community think about this and especially the Store Owners as they will be affected most.

Thanks,
Boyko

I agree, the panels are really unwieldy and are just not easy to use at all compared to the tabs.
Also, right now with this new approach, things like adding a new tab to the admin page that used to be done with HandleEvent(AdminTabStripCreated eventMessage) don't work any longer.
How do we add a panel to this for example

Hi layinka,

I am not too worried about adding new panels as I am sure the nopCommerce team will provide a way to do so.

I am worried more about the User Experience.
I have a lot of experience working with nopCommece and even I am a bit confused with the navigation through the panels.
Imagine if you are NEW to nopCommerce I am sure that you will be completely lost.

p.s: Andrei please don't compare nopCommerce with some inferior and dying frameworks like Magento and Volusion :)))
I don't think Magento has made any changes to their administration in the last couple of years.

Actually Shopify don't have neither Tabs nor Panels. They have more "like" Tabs interface i.e managing Product Variants and navigating through the variants.

Thanks,
Boyko

What is recent update about Nop 4.2? I am waiting for it to upload my new store :)

Hi All,
I want suggestion should I upload my new store on new upcoming version i.e Nop4.2 or stable version i.e Nop4.1?
Thanks.

All depend on time and extension you need. nopCommerce 4.20 is not released yet, after official release vendors need time to upgrade own plugins/themes.
If you need to open store within days, should choose 4.10. If may wait, will suggest 4.20.

Tom

Thanks, It makes sense. If I don't require third party themes and plugins then what you suggest? Will next version have full fledged developed? reliable? and stable version?

When nopCommerce team will release official version, it will be stable.

Thanks Andrei,

That's good news!  Were really looking forward to being able to cut SQL Azure Data Services cost and begin leveraging MYSQL over MSSQL for some clients.  nopCommerce has typically needed a min S2 or S3 package (100 DTU) for some of our sites - which runs the price to $150 / database/ month.  I noticed MYSQL is still a pending item on 4.2 so was hoping it wouldn't get dropped to hit the original date release. Were planning some costs cutting around that feature alone.
So far, 4.2 looks very good!
