Product Attribute for Shipped or Downloaded Product

I have a product that is available to be shipped on a CD or can be downloaded.  I'd like this to be one product and allow the user to select if they want the CD shipped to them or if they would like to download it.

Is there a way to use Product Attributes to give the user this option?  Or is they a better way to do this.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi.

It is not possible out of the box. nopCommerce sets the attribute "Downloadable Product" on product level, you can't let the user choose it or even set it in products attributes.

As nop-world.com mentioned, downloadable setting is set to product. Maybe you be interested with grouped products? As grouped product will be item display, and associated products CD or digital version? Also please note, you may play with views files, and apply special template for this kind of items, so it may be displayed to your customers differently - even you may build this product template to be shown almost like item with attributes.

We have a very similar case, however, the downloadable version needs to be a different file for every purchase. We are selling genealogy records, so a Birth Record, for example, would be a different digital birth record 99.9% of the time.

Downloadable product doesn't fit our needs because of this. Is anyone aware of other ways to manage a situation like this?

@johnhenry
Are you concerned with pricing, or 'delivery' of the product? (or other?)
Do you plan to 'generate'  the product in real-time / available for immediate download, or do you need to manually create it, and 'deliver' it later?

These records would be created as .pdf documents after the payment is received. So we would need to manually create it and deliver it after that. Thank you!

What about order notes?

We're definitely looking into order notes, but the requirement that the customer have an account with us has given us pause. Also, from our vendors' perspective, it's not immediately clear which orders have then been "completed" and which have not.
