4.20 install problem

Tried to install a new version of nop 4.20 but the following error happens:

This page isn’t working 

localhost redirected you too many times.

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

= Neither installation did work on a local server, nor on SmarterAsp Host.
= Neither installation did work on no Source code version, nor with Source Code version.

But only worked while debugging with VS.

- version: 4.20.
- datasettings.json, plugin.json deleted from app_data(as it a new version).
- Visual Studio 2019.
- MS SQL Server (2012, 2017).

I tried logs in SmarterAsp host, but nothing is saved in the logs folder.

On my local server, there are some logs but with data which I don't find any useful info on those logs. Anyway, I'll paste them maybe it's my fault.

Can you walk me through your installation process of 4.20? From where did you get the code, did you build it yourself or did you use the Source version of the application?
Have you installed everything needed for nopCommerce 4.2 described in this article?
What is the configuration on your local machine in IIS?

The first try was the source code version, installed from GitHub releases. The development environment is Visual Studio Pro 2019.

while debugging everything works good (installation and running), but after publish to SmarterAsp didn't work.
So I tried nopCommerce_4.20_NoSource_SelfContained downloaded from the nopCommerce site. but neither worked on SmarterAsp, nor on my local server.

My local machine configuration:

- OS: windows server 2012 RT Data Center.
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Due 6320 1.86.
- Ram: 8 GB.
- IIS: 8.5.
- .Net Core 2.2 is installed (runtime, hosting..)

Another machine (which is my laptop):
- OS: windows 10.
- CPU: Intel Core i7 5500 2.40.
- Ram: 12 GB.
- IIS: 10.
- .Net core SDK 2.2 (also 3 Preview) are installed.

Everything in your server configuration seems fine.
I did some digging around the forum and found out this error only ever happened when someone enabled SSL but did not enable them for all pages or giving bad https URL for the store.

If you've managed to install the database, check your Store Url and SSL settings. Also, check your web.config for any URL Rewritings.

By the looks of it, your application is actually starting but something in the configuration is forcing bad redirects in the browser, so I don't think it is actually 4.20's fault but your configuration.
I would suggest you start with your local machine to understand what really is the issue.

I think too it's something wrong on my side. It's just confusing me as it's a fresh new version without any customization or even configuration like SSL or other configs.

IIS VM trying to run on a subdomain.

the final URL with error message ( ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS ) http://shop.*****.com/install

I've solved the issue by giving Rights to IISuser and IUSer , hope this helps someone in future.

Old thread I know, but the solution with smarterasp or everleap is to make the following change in the appsettings.json file in the root of the project:

"UseHttpXForwardedProto": true, //This line changed by Everleap to support ssl on the load balancer by Frank 5/30/18


If you use this setting on your local host, the site will not launch. Go back to setting to 'false'.
