What does "Notify admin for quantity below" actually do?

Guys, I really tried my best to figure out what the functionality is behind this field but cant find it. Not in the manual, not in the forum and not by trying to see if it has anything to do with Low Stock Report.

Please can anybody explain to me the functionality?
- Does admin get an email? Does not work with me..
- Is the low-stock-report based on it? Dont think so, but I can be wrong..

We get an email to the store email address when the quantity is below the entered number.

Yes indeed, it works. My naieve thoughts let me to believe that is also triggers the email when you lower the stock amount via the admin panel but logically the email is triggered by orders that consume the stock.

Email is send to email address that is marked as "Default" (= considered to be store owner).
