New Area in Edit order details

Hello. I want to add a new area in edit order details.  Under order status area i want to add new area for missing items.  will be similar to the order status field. A list of missing items will appear. There will be a choice.

One option is to change the core code and copy and paste the functionality of Order Status
If making a plugin there is no widget in that location so you will probably need to make a new version of Areas\Admin\Views\Order\_OrderDetails.Info.cshtml and load it with a custom view engine
Again copy and pasting the order status code to make the new selection

Yes it can be drop down selector. For example book, t-shirt,stationary vs. Like order status change status.

My purpose here is to be able to see who is missing which product when I get a report.
