I think Nop team wants to mature their product first, makes sure that everything works perfectly before extending the platform to multi store or even a site portal... otherwise there would be more work to do every time they add features to the system like testing etc... to multi store.
I'll definitely try extend the platform to site portal once version 3.0 and .net 4.5 have released to be sure most of the needed features are available.

If ll be drag and drop features in admin area ll be good for create design and another options. Also in the user interface again drag and drop options for create user friendly shop specific design ...If user wants to see any categories or manufacture vice versa can drag and drop ...
