The "Technology & System Requirements" page:

  https://www.nopcommerce.com/technologysystemrequirements.aspx

doesn't say what TYPE of hosting plan is required. I have a Linux shared plan with HostGator. Can I install nop on my account?

Thanks

No you can not install it on Linux hosting plan. You will need a Windows Hosting plan...

That's what I was figuring out on my own. Did I miss something that says this, or does it need to be clearly stated for those of us who aren't web developers, etc.?

Thanks!

You're right its not very clear on the System Requirements page.. as what hosting account can be used... but if you look at the same page, you'll find that it doesn't have Linux in Supported operating system list...

Hi again jariwalakrunal.  True, but it's the old problem of people who know stuff and write instruction manuals, forget what they didn't know before they learned what they now know, and don't include it because it seems so simple and obvious to them now. There are FAR MORE of us who are either just starting out and don't have a clue, and need these things properly described, and those of us who have learned enough to not cause problems, but still have A LOT to learn.

Bottom line:  YES, it should VERY CLEARLY state that a "Windows hosting plan is required, DO NOT try to install on a Linux plan/system".

Thanks!

www.smarterasp.net

The server is reliable and fast. $2.95 per month including mail server.
Also, it provides nopcommerce installation with just one click.

I am a big fan of Arvixe too. Currently hosting three sites with them. I like the fact that they offer a free domain for life as long as you keep hosting with them and that you get to choose your server location between US, EU (the Netherlands I believe) and Hong Kong.

You can get hosting from $2.80 at http://arvixecouponsite.com/FT30

I strongly rely only on VPS, I have been using VPS since past five years :) !
As one guy said about arvixe vps web hosting. its really awesome i personally love it and i strongly recommend you to go with arvixe discount coupon (http://www.arvixe-discount-coupon.blogspot.com) to take advantage of the prices ;)

I'm on Arvixe now,
but the assistance, in recent times, is very bad!!!
I think I'll change ISP because I just registered a new website and I continually trouble to installing nopcommerce.
Support is almost non-existent.

Maybe I'm going to http://www.smarterasp.net/
