Feature Request: Ability to Setup "New Products" Based on Last X Added

Currently to setup new products you have to go into the products you want displayed and check the "Mark as New" checkbox for each product. I would like to see the option in the Catalog configuration to show the last X amount of recent products shown. This would make the list more dynamic. A store could also choose to use the current option on the individual product page as well to highlight specific new products on the New Products page.
