Is it possible to create two views (public and internal) or to filter the products presented via user roll?

Yes, its possible out of the box using Customer Roles and ACL on Products and Category.

Multi-store feature gives you more flexibility for having different views and behaviors for your internal and external sites. If it is only showing products to different customer roles then try ACL on products
