I would like to set up an automated email so that if a customer places and order using a particular delivery method an email is sent straight to a delivery company to inform them of the order so that they can arrange this , is this possible?
It's not a feature of core nopCommerce, and I'm not aware of any plugin that does it. It would require customization. However, I'd recommend that the email not be sent when the order is "placed", but rather "paid". (Or, possibly when you set up a "shipment").
