Yes but there should be some expenses like Approval system, SEO, Marketing, Advertisement etc. So there will be also some charge. but it should be minimal like 50 - 100 $ per year for unlimited plugins. thats all.

And here nopCommerce is charging 15 USD per month per plugin. So vendor have to pay thousand of dollars to keep approx 50-60 plugin on nopCommerce. Thats why more then 20+ vendors are not happy with this and removed there plugin and theme or keep free or paid for 2-3 plugins thats all.

Really this is not vendor friendly. And think if new customer come on nopCommerce site and if they checked which are the plugin ready available and if they not find any ready plugin from there list. So how they will happy to start there project with nopCommerce platform ?

Hope this credit idea will remove asap.

Thanks,
Jatin

The home page on nopcommerce.com should be updated - from 1500+plugins to 300+ plugins.
It doesn't look good :(

When I 'discussed' it with Andrei, I suggested
a) lower cost for low-cost plugins  (e.g. some plugins only sell for 9.99 or 19.99)
b) free credits for MVPs ;)
c) discounts for long term credit purchases (6 mo, 1 year)
They only went with the latter.

We're always open to good suggestions from our community.

And that's why we've just introduced a new 50% discount for low-cost plugins (price less than $20). Now such plugins require only 5 credits per day. Thanks again for your suggestions!

Some time ago we've also introduced volume discounts for credits:
> 20% discount for vendors who purchase credits enough for the next 6+ months
> 40% discount for vendors who purchase credits enough for the next 12+ months
So the plugin listing now could cost from $5 to $9 per month with this discount applied. That's not much at all

Furthermore, we're going to provide absolutely free listings for some really demanded but local integrations that don't give much profit for developers (e.g. payment gateways for Iceland or the Netherlands).

Please also let me clarify about some other important points that we've already shared with our vendors. As you know, we have done a tremendous job recently to get the nopCommerce marketplace better:
- introduced the new approval process for all plugins on our marketplace
- removed all outdated and low-quality plugins
We got much good feedback from our vendors on positive changes related to our marketplace clean-up initiative. And many of them noted that cleaning up the marketplace increased the clients’ confidence, demand, and the conversion rate for their products.

We introduce a small fee for plugin publishing on the nopCommerce marketplace, so that our team can curate content and maintain the necessary review and approval process to ensure a high-quality experience for merchants, and a healthy ecosystem for plugin vendors.

To keep it fair and avoid reducing our vendors’ income, we decided to set a small fixed payment for plugin publishing. We don’t want to introduce a huge 30-50% commission share like other marketplaces do (e.g. magento or opencart) because we think that it’s a robbery. It also means that you won’t have to pay more with the sales increase. We won’t be an intermediary in payment receipts from your clients, which means vendors will get your payments directly and without delays. You can learn more about the conditions of plugin publishing on the nopCommerce marketplace here.

We've introduced these discounts for vendors that are really interested in plugin development. We strongly believe that this step will make our marketplace cleaner.
- Previously some of our solution partners uploaded not much demanded plugins just to get some solution partners points
- Some partners or vendors uploaded plugins for old versions and never upgraded them to the latest versions (e.g. version 3.90 support only)
- Less plugins that are not very much demanded

All vendors that respect the work of our team, all vendors that have good and really demanded plugins already purchased credits. Anyway some other vendors don't want to pay for listing... and it's absolutely OK. They can publish and sell them on their own websites without listing on our marketplace. We respect choice of all vendors!

Hi,
Is Silver Solution Partners will get any discount or better price?

Currently we don't offer you credit discounts for solution partners. All available discounts are described here.

There's one more type of discount that I haven't mentioned above. It's applied to your vendor account. Please find it here (point #3).

This is a good idea. But it might not work well. And BTW, most vendors have their own shop too where they can host their own plugins too. And nopCommerce has put a lot of effort into building this and has the right to charge for maintaining and offering a space on the extension page. There is nothing wrong with that.

The only concern is this system of charging per day is not currently vendor friendly and we see one needs to pay a lot to publish the plugin to the marketplace. It's only because of daily credit consumption which seems small per day but if you have more than few plugins it costs a lot. So, this is an add-on to the cost that the plugin vendor has to consider while building & publishing a plugin apart from plugin development cost + maintenance & support costs. This will make publishing plugins more costly too, just like if you see most of the low priced plugins are now no longer in the marketplace. I had a long discussion with the nopCommerce team on this and I am glad that they considered a few suggestions on this.

However, I agree with Jatin that one time charge is better than having a daily charge. However, many vendors have different opinions and the nopCommerce team can not satisfy all of them.

The only concern I share is that this system is not helping nopCommerce as many vendors choose to host plugins in their shop as this gives a bad impression to the new potential customers evaluating nopCommerce for their e-commerce projects. This is very critical especially when people compare nopCommerce with Magento and WooCommerce. Both of them have a very strong marketing presence and marketplace eco-system. We lose the battle here while failing to attract new customers, and this is not only loss of the plugin vendors or solution partner but for the nopCommerce too.

Charging to host the plugins on daily basis is not a fair enough step especially when there is no sales on daily basis and majority of vendors are having the same concern that their all plugins and themes are not sold on daily basis so I strongly believe that daily charges to host the plugins are not good.

On the top , customers are redirected to venders page when they are supposed to buy the plugin and there is no facility provided by nopcommerce team to manage the sales of plugins and majority of all venders have invested to build / develop their own shop page to have the sales of their plugins. so this also going to create a negative thoughts in customers mind that they are trying to buy something from nopcommerce market place but payment processing is done at other place. So per day charge for hosting only is not recommended.

Rather, nopcommerce team have to think for EITHER one time charge per year basis to host the plugins OR commission to be charged per sales for plugins like Envato or Code Canyon and its fair too.

As per current plan venders needs to pay on daily basis where there is no guarantee of sales on daily basis and venders may have to pay from their pocket regardless there is an income or not.

If nopcommerce will go to implement commission per sales from their on sales site or market place then it will help to venders and more income they will have as commission and venders will also have revenue and they have to pay commission on the basis of total sales , so it will be a win win situation for nopcommerce and venders both and customers will have a great level of user experience and they can do everything from a single site only....

I highly recommend to implement nopcommerce own market place from where all products can be sold and they can charge their commission per sales and this way venders wont have any burden to pay for hosing the items only.

I hope current plan of per day charge will change soon by nopcommerce to grow more along with all their venders.

That is fully understood, as open-source does not mean each must work for free.
What is about our concern - how much effort cost nopCommerce team review of the plugin after the upgrade? This same as a new plugin? What about the effort of an already accepted plugin? The cost is per day, not by publishing. Why is our concern about it? Allow sharing our point of view, as we have a lot of plugins.
From our account, daily we have 364 credits (and that is not a full list of our pluigins!).

5 cents seems not much, but 364*30days cost us 546$ per month, per year, is over 6500$. That is a lot! And that is without support, develop, upgrade... So the final price is much, much more than this. As a developer, you know perfectly the costs of developing and maintain a project.

nopCommerce does not have such a community as Magento. We wish that someday we will see such a huge community here, but for the current day is not this same. And showing potential customers a small number of plugins does not help to achieve this goal.

If that is a choice that is completely fine. Worst, if that is the only option in regards to sales value.

Fully agree, which was mentioned also above. Less plugins, less new customers, less profit for vendors, less interesting with nopCommerce, less profit for nopSolutions.
