Associated Products Quantity Issue. Is it a bug or ... ?

hi.
i am using NC 3.90

i created a SIMPLE product and called it TEST PRODUCT with following settings:
* Inventory method — Track inventory by product attributes  
* Display availability — CHECKED
* Display stock quantity — CHECKED
* I have created SIZE attributes like : XS, S, M and associated following products for each size... I used RADIO buttons


then I have created three more SIMPLE HIDDEN products: TEST PRODUCT, size XS | TEST PRODUCT, size S | TEST PRODUCT, size M
for every of these products I have set
* Inventory method — Track inventory
* Stock quantity — 40 for XS, 50 for S and 100 for M
* Display availability — CHECKED
* Display stock quantity — CHECKED

My problem is that in the product page of TEST PRODUCT it doesn't show product quantity when I select XS, S or M but each product has quanity!

What am I doing wrong or it doesn't support it and it is bug?

You are using Track inventory by product attributes
Did you make product combinations
i.e. Under Product attributes there is another tab
and enter the stock for each combination ?
i.e. each size / color combination or what ever the attributes are
Also Tick the Display stock quantity setting

I am running into this situation as well and finding no solutions.

I DON'T want to use the Attribute Combinations, I DO want to have a product with Associated Products and display inventory for those APs.  

Is this not possible at all?
