nopCommerce license terms

According to the terms of the nopCommerce license, without purchasing the Copyright removal key:

  • You may NOT remove or hide the "Powered by nopCommerce" statement that appears at the bottom of each page within a nopCommerce-powered website
  • When users click on the "powered by nopCommerce" text it must direct them to https://www.nopcommerce.com. The "Powered by nopCommerce" link must be in the same format, unedited, as delivered in the program source code. This obligation shall also apply to any copies or derivative works! 
  • The copyright notice at the footer of your store (website) must remain intact, unedited and clearly visible. Please do NOT attempt to edit, remove or hide the copyright notice in any way.

Upon purchase of a "copyright removal key" you are permitted to remove the "Powered by nopCommerce" statement.

According to The World Intellectual Property Organization Copyright Treaty, The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (the USA), and official Directive of the European Union, site pages or an entire site which violates authors’ rights might be removed from Google search results and from other search engines if an author whose rights were violated makes such a request.

A wildcard copyright removal key is for multiple sites on a SINGLE domain. If you purchase such key for domain www.yourDomain.com, then you can remove "powered by nopCommerce" on the following sites as well - subdomain1.yourDomain.com, subdomain2.yourDomain.com, www.yourDomain.com/site3, www.yourDomain.com/site4.

Server copyright removal key

A server copyright removal key is for one IP address. If you purchase such key for IP address (e.g. 210.111.222.333), then you can remove "powered by nopCommerce" on all sites which could be accessed using this IP address. But it's limited to 100 sites per key (for example, if you have 200 sites, then you have to buy two server copyright removal keys).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does the key last? Do I have to buy a new key every year or when I move to a new nopCommerce version? The copyright removal key is a one-off fee and it has no time restrictions.
  • I’ve changed my website URL. Can you move my key to the new URL? No. According to the nopCommerce license, you can't change the URL of the Key. A single key must be used for each store (URL) and cannot be used more than once. You have to buy a new one.
  • Do I have to buy the key for my test/QA website? No, you don't have to buy a key for your test website. But please inform the visitors that this website was created for testing purposes only (e.g. add a plate "Testing environment"). Or just put the "Powered by nopCommerce" notice to the footer of your website.
  • I haven’t done anything! My developer/former employee removed your copyright notice! What should I do? The obligation to comply with the license lies with the store owner. Please put the "Powered by nopCommerce" notice to the footer of your website or buy the copyright removal key for your website.
