Duplicate orders

We're using a customized version of NOPCommerce and recently we've been having an issue with duplicate orders.
Some of the orders made by customers are duplicated on their own, the order data is identical and the difference between the duplicated orders is a second or two at most.

Does anyone know why this issue might be happening?

For context we're using NOPCommerce version 3.60
